The Choir
For more than 100 years now the male choir HARMONIE Lindenholzhausen with its 90 singers presents high-quality choir music. The choir’s extensive repertoire covers all periods of vocal music and the 20th. century, among them choral works composed by R.R. Klein, A. Koerppen, F. Farcas and many others more. Some of the works have been specially composed for HARMONIE Lindenholzhausen. At the same time the choir dedicates itself to oratorioes usually performed together with the female choir “Dzintars” Riga / Latvia.
Numerous concert tours and participations in international festivals took the HARMONIE to Austria, the Czech Republic, Egypt, England, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Macedonia, Russia, USA and Wales. In Wales the choir won first prize in the male choir category at the International “Eisteddfod” Llangollen in 1995 and 2007(second prize in 2003). In Germany, the Harmonie won several times prizes in the Hessen and German Choir Competitions. 1998, HARMONIE won first prize in the male choir category at the German Choir Competition in Regensburg (second prize 2006 in Kiel).
Today the HARMONIE Lindenholzhausen is conducted by Martin Winkler and the assisstant conductor Andreas Jung.
Festival
The HARMONIE is organizer of the worldwide famous HARMONIE-FESTIVALS. 230 choirs and folkgroups with 7.500 participants from 48 nations took part in the 5th. HARMONIE FESTIVAL in May 2005. The next HARMONIE FESTIVAL will take place in 2011 from June 2nd to June 6th. HARMONIE would be glad to welcome you as participants or guests. From September 2009 you should ask for the syllabus with the conditions of entry (or contact us by e-mail). Visits with concerts are possible every year.
Conductor
After his academic studies in choir music Martin Winkler took part in various advanced courses with experts in the respective field. Among them Gardiner, Ericsson and Celibidache. He started to work as a lecturer at the college for music in Heidelberg and Mannheim. Today he is the managing director of a music school in Dreieich. The institute is well-known for its courses in singing and conducting. Martin Winkler is also frequently asked to advise national institutions like the Deutsches Chorleiterforum im Arbeitskreis Musik in der Jugend (AMJ) and the “Verband deutscher Musikschulen” (VdM).
The recorded concerts give proof of a profound and harmonious cooperation with his ensembles. In Germany he won prizes at the national competitions for orchestras and choirs. Above all he was awarded prizes for the most outstanding interpretations of contemporary compositions. His regular engagement as a member of the jury and conductor at music festivals in Africa, North America, Australia and Europe gained him international reputation. Martin Winkler began his work as a conductor of HARMONIE Lindenholzhausen in 1994.
